Food Review: Rama 9 @ Food Republic, One Utama

Hello everybody! I'm back with another food review. This time to the land of sawadikap located in 1 Utama. How have you been doing? Good or not? Yesterday was the premiere screening of Avengers and I went there early to avoid the powderful traffic jam on LDP. Being early, of cuz must fix my stomach la right? I didn't know what to eat and almost walk in Burger King for their value meal shit. Almost I said. Luckily beside the Burger King, there's another food court. In case you didn't know, it's called Food Republic. Many blogger blogged bout it before, and I never visited it before. So I decided to walk in to try the food there. Walao, don't say I cheapskate ok go eat food court, this is high class one. At least I pay double for what I'm about to pay in Burger King.

When I walk in, it's in merry go round. You walk round and round and still cannot decide what food to eat. Got Japanese Teppan-yucky la, got chicken rice, got malay rice, arabic rice, all sorts of food la. Little work, tarbush, all also got. I myself a fan of Thai food. So I gave this particular stall a go. It's called Rama 9. Why Rama? I don't know. Why 9? I also don't know. Maybe they have 9 bosses and all also name Rama.

Anyway, let's go to the food review as usual.

Tom Yum Gung with Prawn served with Rice Noodles

pic00003
Fuah, this one power I tell you. See the picture I also feel hot and sexy. Basically it tasted like a real tom yum gung, and not those maggi paste soup base. What you get with this bowl? You're served with 4 medium sized prawns, deshelled. See they do the dirty job for you stripping down the prawns. And also decent size. Later I show you the size of the prawn ok? The soup, spicy spicy and oily abit. But cheap tom yam, ok la. Price also I tell you later. One thing I dislike is the noodles a bit too soft. Over cooked. Why la? How hard to cook beehoon? Or maybe I eat too slow then the beehoon grew soft. Oh another thing, don't expect to find sotong, fishaball or anything. They already stated clearly prawn. You get oyster mushroom, and a lot of cabbage with the prawn. That's about it. Not enough you eat the bowl also ok? Don't go complain and make yourself look like an elephant ok? Jackass is too rude and overused liao la.

Pad Thai

pic00002
Fuu, this one awesome. Just enough heat to taste, and the nuts really gave the dish a much needed explosion. Let me put it this way. It tasted like char koey teow minus the shitbrix dirty wok taste, with really nutty fragrance. Damn awesome. They served 3 medium prawns with this. Same size as the tom yam earlier.

Medium Sized Porn Prawn

See I no lie you ok?

So overall, tuck mm tuck?

Tom Yum Gung - Tuck!
Pad Thai - TUCK!

Why tuck you ask despite I complain bout the noodles? Very simple. I paid RM 16.60 for this 2 dish. And with that, you get to buy any fizzy drinks for only RM 1.50 each. But the catch is you must buy 2. So half price, but must buy 2. Simply, buy 1 get 1 free. Good deal what? I forgot what's the name of the deal already. I think it's called Up Value Meal. Whatever up I don't care la, as long as not up car, then TUCK already!

Food Review: Restaurant Mama Kitchen Puchong

Finally back from my vacation in an island. Walao, the food in that island.. horrible la! But ok la, still surviving. Beautiful island you like snorkeling and shits like that, but if you go for food, you up car liao.

Anyway, I thought of reviewing some action figures since Avengers is the talk of the town. Once again, the lazy side of me kicks in and tell me I should be reviewing food again. Why? Lesser pictures and more hits ma. True or not? If not you also won't be reading this now la.

My last posting, or the first, whichever you prefer was about MFM. What is that? Go click the previous post la. Why so lazy? Anyway, Tuck-Mm-Tuck is back with another food review. This time around, not halal food. So sorry to all my Muslim readers. You may close the page now. Before you close, press Ctrl-D first ok? Got free gift for you if you do that.

Ok la, let's start with the food review.

Everyone says Puchong is the fastest blooming town all because of the crazy traffic jams, the increasingly high number for expats to form United Nations (from Myanmar, Indo, Bangla) and also because everyone wants to open a makan place here. From Chinese food to Korean food, from Indonesian food to Italian food, you name it, you got it here in Puchong. Not everything is edible though as there are many shitbrix food too.

pic00009

So I went to this place called Mama Kitchen in Bandar Puteri yesterday. Mama Kitchen, so the cooking must be like from your mother la right? Somemore since 1983. Can't go wrong la right? Actually I read bout this place from other blogs. I remember reading that this Mama Kitchen is a branch and the original mother is actually cooking in TTDI. I don't know but if you do, tell me ok?

Let's review one by one and start off with the classic chinese tea (suet char). You must be asking why review the chinese tea right? The answer is, I like la. My blog ma!

Suet Char (Chinese Tea)

pic00010

You pay 50 cent for this. And I would say it's fine. 50 cent you get to drink some bitter drink and at least you think it's a healthier option. I can tell you, order sky juice instead. The chinese tea not nice. I don't know why I say this, but it's no good. Not at all. I drank better chinese tea at 40 cents. I know I blardy cheap la.

Kam Heong La La (Golden Fragrant Clam LOL)

pic00011

Wah this lala. Just one word, sibeh Awesome. Maybe I used 2 words there but so what? The gravy was spot on, with the right amount of heat and flavor. Just enough to tickle your tastebuds. The lala was fresh too, and it's so fresh you would have thought that they caught them fresh in Sungai Wang. And for RM 15 (medium serving), it's reasonable. The only bad thing about this dish is that a lot of lala shell no flesh one. Fresh but no flesh. WTF man.

Yong Chow Chao Fan (Yong Chow Fried Rice)

pic00014

This is awesome too. Though I only ate a spoonful, but the force 'wok hei' is strong with this one. I don't usually order fried rice nor I'm a fan of one, but it's safe to say this is good enough to be enter your mouth. It's RM 6.50 for a small serving. The crunchy greens around the plate gives it an extra kick with every chew.

Siew Yoke Meen (Roasted Pork Noodles)

pic00013

Firstly, the noodles were over cooked. A little too soft for my liking. They could have done an al-dente if you know what I mean. Secondly, for a small serving (RM 8), it's too big! Other than the noodles being over cooked, I still find this dish decent. The amount of pork in it, decent la. Other than that, don't expect anything out of this world. Pretty direct, wan tan mee with siew yoke. That's about it. This is somehow one of their signature dish. Somehow.

Nga Pou Lou Shu Fan (Claypot Rat Tail Noodles? Lol?)

pic00012

Being their signature dish, who won't order right? In fact, this is my 2nd time ordering this rat dish. What I like is the fact that you can see how generous they are with the minced meat topping the noodles. That's a lot for a small serving (RM 7) too! Somemore with the egg there. Fuu. Nice la. But do take note you have to wallop the whole pot before it gets cold. Don't say I didn't warn you. Eating it cold means you're eating some weird textured gooey noodles. That's how it is. Then don't say I bring you up car.

Sang Har Meen (Fresh Water Prawn Noodles)

pic00015

You pay RM 28 (medium serving) for 2 fresh prawn. The prawns, not very fresh. The gravy, tasted mediocore. The noodles, they were tought. Over fried. Will I order this again? NO. Overall the dish bad la, other than the reasonable price. I wouldn't wanna recommend this. But having said that, maybe you like the taste la.

So overall, tuck mm tuck?

Suet Char - Mm Tuck!
Kam Heong Lala - TUCK!
Yong Chow Chao Fan - TUCK!!
Siew Yoke Meen - Mm Tuck!!
Nga Pou Lou Shu Fan - Tuck!!
Sang Har Meen - Mm Tuck!

Don't say I didn't warn you la. Here's the address of the place.

Food Review: Manhattan Fish Market's Greatest Hits from The Ocean

This will be the first 'of-fish-cial' post for Tuck-Mm-Tuck!

466177_10151471005165300_102467240299_23784527_1880115928_o

What's better than to kick off the posting with a review of the so-called "Greatest Hits from The Ocean" from The Manhattan Fish Market? Since it's the Greatest HITS, sure 'tuck' one la right?

The Greatest Hits promotion features all their best seller packed into an offer so damn good you can't resist, or so they say! I shall not type so much and jump straight into the review ok??

What I ordered?
Most Popular

What is served?
1 Mediterranean Baked Fish
1 Seafood Olio
1 Caesar Salad
2 Fizzy Drinks (bottomless)

Price?
RM 39.90

Mediterranean Baked Fish

pic00006

They used a dory for this. Dory being dory, it's soft and mushy. Don't expect to get a good texture out of the fish, but the 'mediterranean' marinate was really a life saver. I don't know how 'mediterranean' the marinate was, but heck, it's packed with flavor, a flavor in which I'm not so familiar off. Don't start shouting if you bite into bits and pieces of peppercorns and some weird tasting dried herb. It's in the MARINATE!

pic00005

The garlic rice, pretty much the average rice you'll get from MFM. Pretty dry and nothing garlicky enough to pollute your breath. The vegetables served beside though, was bad. It's very obvious that the broccoli was 'fresh' from the freezer. Walao!! Frozen vegetables sucks! Too much of Chef Gordon eh? The carrots wasn't how I would imagine them to be. The rough cuts could have been better, or at least more consistent. Maybe it's just me.

Seafood Olio

pic00003

Ahhh, how can anyone cook Olio wrongly?

Let's start off with the pasta. The spaghetti was pretty well-done. Not overcooked, but just nice. Al Dente. Perfecto. Prego. Ya, just nice. Maybe it was the weather, or just plain luck. I don't really fancy eating pasta in fast food chain, so you know what I'm saying. The 'dressing' or the olive oil that dresses the pasta was well done too. Not too spicy, just enough salt to taste, and most importantly, it wont make you feel like you're drinking oil.

The seafood that comes with this olio? The shrimp was nice and crunchy, a sign of it being frozen before actually being cooked. The squids were nicely prepared, not overcooked, not undercooked. Just nice. The mussels? I find it a bit too chewy, and it tasted a lil' to 'fishy' for my liking. I never fancied mussels and their family, so it could be just me, again!

Caesar Salad

pic00001

Look at the amount of croutons! I mean, who wouldn't like croutons? I don't like them, but I love them! But this is too much. It's crunchy, and really really nice to eat. Having said that, every single bite is like eating an oil bomb. The oil literally explodes in your mouth, making you sick with each explosion. Don't get me wrong, I'm a total sucka for croutons. But this, is.. just too much. The salad was below average. The dressing used wasn't really 'tasty'. Well, it taste like a Caesar salad, but it's not the best you can have. The eggs (yea I know I'm even complaining bout the eggs) were overcooked. Just look at the black tone on the yolk. It would have been nicer if the yolk is just cooked, and even better slightly under cook. Again, it's just me, but the over cooked eggs don't really go well in salad. I don't like my salad to have dry bits of egg that tastes like powder. Or even makes me feel like I'm eating powder. They used romaine, which is okay. Wait, they're so generous that they even served me the stalk.

pic00002

Shouldn't that go in the thrash or something? Kanasai.

So overall, tuck mm tuck?

Med. Baked Fish - Mm Tuck!
Seafood Olio - Tuck
Caesar Salad - Mm Tuck!
Fizzy Drinks - TUCK cuz it's bottomless and also we're Malaysians, and we love free refills!

Tuck Mm Tuck?

Welcome to Tuck-Mm-Tuck.blogspot.com!

Well, how do I put into words what I'll be blogging here? I'll try to keep it short, and hopefully it's short enough to fit what my contents will be in just one sentence.

"Tuck-Mm-Tuck.blogspot.com will be reviewing products ranging from action figures to cheap canned food, from floor mats to LED lights and not forgetting random stuff I get along the way."

So yea, basically every single random thing I pick up will be reviewed here! Not forgetting, you're most welcome to submit your request for a product review! And oh, don't lah ask me to review a Lambo or a Maserati which is totally out of my league. Simple stuff like kacang and action figures, still boleh lah.

I will try to update with a post or two on a weekly basis, with random reviews that who knows... might be resourceful for you! I'll be more than happy to do a review on products and services by your requests!

Keep me bookmarked!
